Vagabond Teardrop Caravans was started in 2008, making it SA’s first Fibreglass Teardrop Caravan.
In 2018, Vagabond Caravans was purchased by Midlands Caravans, one of the most respected names in the KZN caravanning fraternity. Don Lund and his son Bryce are extremely excited about this new venture following the fire that completely destroyed their dealership in March 2018.
The Lunds are passionate about the Caravan industry and have always wanted to build their own caravans. They saw the potential for a light weight caravan in the South African market and that it would allow them to stay in this industry that they as a family love very much.
The gap between the camper and person who caravans is vast and a lightweight caravan allows those potential customers with smaller cars and those without an EB license to still own a caravan. It opens the door to younger families who can now experience and hopefully get hooked on caravanning and that is critical for the future of the Caravan industry in South Africa!
Although they don’t want to stray too far from the core of what Vagabond is, there are some minor changes planned. The Lunds have a combined 40 years experience in the caravan industry and already have new models planned to add to the oldest Teardrop caravan range in South Africa, and are very excited about the value they can add to the Vagabond family.
